In Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, a unique exhibition showcasing some of the world’s rarest diamonds was open to the public on Tuesday. Among these exquisite gems was a particularly remarkable blue diamond, part of a collection valued at $100 million.

The exhibition, curated by Sotheby’s, featured eight exceptional diamonds that together weigh over 700 carats. The centerpiece of the exhibit was a 10-carat blue diamond originating from South Africa, deemed one of the most significant discoveries in the realm of blue diamonds. This rare gem is anticipated to fetch an impressive $20 million at an auction scheduled for May.

Quig Bruning, who oversees the company’s jewels department across North America, Europe, and the Middle East, explained the decision to host the exhibition in Abu Dhabi. He cited the region’s keen interest and long-standing fascination with diamonds as a motivating factor.

“We are very optimistic about the potential in this region,” he noted. “This is the type of environment where both diamond traders and collectors appreciate and seek after pieces of such exceptional importance and rarity.”
