A French anti-racism organization has lodged a legal complaint against the extremist group known as Luminis Paris following the dissemination of alarming flyers targeting foreigners. These flyers were distributed near a rally held by Marine Le Pen’s party and depicted a blood-stained knife alongside the stark exhortation for “French people to fight back.”

The flyers contained incendiary, xenophobic language, with one sentence ominously stating: “French people, today the foreigners come into our arms to slit the throats of your sons and wives.”

SOS Racisme, the group which filed the complaint on Monday, accused Luminis Paris of promoting racial hatred and violence. The organization warned of the growing prevalence of such rhetoric, emphasizing that it is no longer confined to fringe elements but is being supported by structured networks, increasingly gaining traction among mainstream far-right supporters.

Dominique Sopo, President of SOS Racisme, commented, “This illustrates how the far right, despite its internal disputes, coalesces around its core tenet: a deep hatred of the Other.”

Legal experts suggest that these flyers might contravene French laws on hate speech, which strictly prohibit public incitement towards discrimination or violence. To date, Luminis Paris has not publicly responded to the legal proceedings against them, although they have previously dismissed critiques of the flyers.

Luminis Paris has garnered attention in the past. In 2024, the group faced accusations of conducting patrols in Paris that allegedly denied aid to homeless migrants.

SOS Racisme is urging authorities to outlaw the flyers and take steps to dissolve the controversial group. “The current wave of racism isn’t merely being normalized—it’s becoming institutionalized, radicalized, and perilous,” the organization stated.

The activities of Luminis Paris highlight a concerning trend: the escalating influence of far-right fringe groups throughout France. Reflecting widespread dissatisfaction, tens of thousands have recently taken to the streets in various French cities, protesting against racism and the proliferation of far-right ideologies. Further demonstrations on a national scale have been scheduled for the coming Saturday.
