The 2025 Michigan Sports Writers Division 4 All-State girls basketball team has been announced, showcasing the standout talents of high school athletes across the state. A panel of 16 seasoned sports journalists collaborated to select the division’s top performers this year.
Mia McGregor from Mio High School clinched the title of Player of the Year, an accolade that underscores her exceptional contribution to her team’s success. She also earned a place on the All-State team, exemplifying her athletic prowess and skill on the basketball court.
Joining McGregor in the All-State lineup are several other talented athletes, including Jillian Fraser from St. Ignace, Katie Spicer from Fowler, and Tamerah Peterson from Sterling Heights Parkway Christian. The Ewen-Trout Creek duo, Bree Besonen and Irelynd McGeshick, further highlight the competitive spirit within Michigan’s Division 4 girls basketball scene.
The list also features Lauren Adams from Norway, Haven Chapman from Genesee Christian, and Emersyn Bachelder from Morenci, among others. These athletes have shown remarkable dedication and skill, earning them recognition among their peers.
The title of Coach of the Year was awarded to Jacky Besonen of Ewen-Trout Creek, acknowledging her leadership and ability to cultivate her team’s talents to achieve remarkable results this season.
A Second Team was also announced, consisting of players who received at least two votes. This group includes Addison Cullen from St. Ignace and Libby Tank from Deckerville, indicating strong performances and promising potential on the court.
Additional coaches recognized for their contributions include Andrew Doerr of Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart and Nate Goerge from Fowler. These coaches have been pivotal in guiding their teams to success in this competitive division.
For players earning an Honorable Mention, Elizabeth Hufnagel from Fowler and Addi Dzwik from Battle Creek St. Philip were noted. Each of these athletes received recognition for their contribution to their respective teams, signifying their impact on the games they played.
