BOSTON — David Pastrnak dazzled the crowd with a hat trick and contributed two assists, while Jeremy Swayman shined with 39 saves, marking his 100th career win. This powerful performance propelled the Boston Bruins to a decisive 5-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night, ending a grueling 10-game winless streak.

Morgan Geekie was instrumental for the Bruins, scoring a goal and adding four assists. Elias Lindholm also stood out, contributing a goal and an assist. On the flip side, the only blemish on Swayman’s impressive outing came from Justin Robidas, who scored for the Hurricanes, thwarting Swayman’s shutout attempt with just 55 seconds left on the clock. Carolina’s goaltender, Frederik Andersen, made 21 saves during the game.

The Bruins secured their first win in nearly a month. They gained momentum with back-to-back goals from Geekie and Lindholm within a quick 58-second span in the last 1:11 of the opening period. Pastrnak, after assisting on the first two goals, continued to dominate by netting three consecutive goals throughout the remainder of the match, earning his 19th career hat trick.

This victory marks the end of the team’s longest losing streak in 15 years. Prior to this game, Boston had not suffered 10 consecutive losses since 2010, compiling an 0-9-1 record since their last win over Florida on March 11.

In terms of notable events, midway through the second period, Pastrnak skillfully maneuvered the puck across the slot with his left skate, spun around the opposite post, and launched a forehand shot from behind the goal line, beating Andersen and advancing Boston to a 3-0 lead.

Statistically, while the Bruins were outshot 40-26, they impressively outhit the Hurricanes 39-12 and blocked a significant 25 shots compared to Carolina’s seven.

Looking ahead, the Hurricanes embark on a road trip with their next game scheduled for Tuesday night in Buffalo, whereas the Bruins will face the Sabres on Sunday.
