DORAL, Fla. โ€” On Thursday, former President Donald Trump made his way to his resort in Doral for a LIV Golf event, moments after expressing his desire to unite the two main menโ€™s golf tours to journalists aboard his plane. Trumpโ€™s involvement in discussions aimed at merging the PGA Tour and the Saudi-backed LIV continues as talks about their potential unification have been ongoing for over a year, with the outcome remaining uncertain.

During his flight to Miami, Trump reiterated to reporters his hopes for a merger, stating, โ€œUltimately, hopefully, the two tours are going to merge. Thatโ€™ll be good. Iโ€™m involved in that too. But hopefully, weโ€™re going to get the two tours to merge. You have the PGA Tour and the LIV Tour. And I think having them merge would be a great thing.โ€

He praised the golfers of the LIV Tour, which boasts some of the sportโ€™s top talents like Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, and Dustin Johnson, naming them โ€œsome of the best players in the world.โ€

Upon his arrival late Thursday afternoon, Trump was seen at the edge of the property being chauffeured in a golf cart by his son Eric Trump. Eric had participated in the LIV Miami pro-am event earlier that day alongside Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and others. The former president took a moment to acknowledge and wave to a small crowd of supporters before heading into a nearby building.

Trump was lined up to give a speech at a dinner event attended by LIV players and guests that evening. He planned to spend a few hours at the venue before traveling to his primary residence in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The LIV tournament held at Trumpโ€™s Doral resort is scheduled to kick off on Friday and will run through to Sunday. As a passionate golfer himself, Trump plans to indulge in his sport at one of his other properties located in Jupiter, Florida, during the weekend.
