INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Tragedy struck at a well-frequented Lake Tahoe ski resort when a young girl tragically lost her life due to a falling boulder. The incident occurred over the weekend at Diamond Peak, a ski area renowned for its scenic views and winter sports.
Emergency responders were called to the scene on Saturday afternoon following what was described as a “non-skiing accident” involving a young child. The resort, located in Incline Village, issued a statement explaining that the girl was playing on a hillside near the base lodge when a sizeable rock dislodged from the slope, fatally striking her.
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as 7-year-old Adelyn Grimes from Reno. In response to the tragic event, Diamond Peak expressed their deepest sympathies to the grieving family, emphasizing their sorrow over the accident.
Authorities, including the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, are currently conducting an investigation into the incident. However, initial assessments confirm that foul play is not suspected.
Located approximately 30 miles south of Reno, Diamond Peak lies on the northeastern edge of Lake Tahoe, attracting visitors year-round for skiing and other recreational activities.
