Nik Graves, a standout player from Charlotte, has announced his transfer to Creighton following a top-scoring season. Similarly, San Diego State’s Magoon Gwath, honored as the Mountain West freshman and defensive player of the year, has decided to withdraw from the transfer portal.
Graves’ decision was publicized through a social media announcement by Ascension Sports, his representation, on Wednesday. This marks the second key acquisition for the Creighton Bluejays from the transfer portal within a week, following their successful pursuit of Owen Freeman, a center from Iowa.
During his tenure with the Charlotte 49ers, Graves averaged an impressive 17.5 points per game, securing his rank as the fifth-best scorer in the American Athletic Conference. He was consistent, starting all 33 games and logging an average of 34.3 minutes per game. Graves also demonstrated his scoring prowess by recording a personal best of 32 points in a game against East Carolina on March 2.
On the other hand, the 7-foot, 190-pound Gwath had a notable season, starting in 26 games and contributing 8.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game. Despite an injury-interrupted redshirt season due to a foot injury and missing five games this season with a knee issue, Gwath considered a potential move to Kentucky before opting to stay with his current team.
Gwath shared on social media that he plans to undergo an NBA draft evaluation, which will influence his final decision on returning to college basketball. He expressed, “If I return to school next season, it will be as an Aztec!” reflecting his commitment to potentially continuing his journey with San Diego State.
