PHOENIX — During a heated game on Sunday night, Houston Rockets’ forward Dillon Brooks faced ejection in their match against the Phoenix Suns, following a confrontation with star player Kevin Durant.
Brooks received a foul for his interaction with Durant with just under five minutes to play in the second quarter, at which point Houston was leading comfortably, 55-38. Post-foul, tensions escalated into a shoving bout between Brooks and Durant. Despite initial intervention, Brooks persisted with his objections, leading to his ejection from the game.
Subsequently, a review of the altercation resulted in two technical fouls being charged against Brooks, and one apiece for Durant and the Suns’ Nick Richards. Notably, no free throws were administered as a result of these infractions.
In his brief 11 minutes on the court, Brooks managed to contribute eight points. This ejection marks his first of the current season and the seventh throughout his eight-year tenure in the NBA. Prior to the match, Brooks had garnered the highest number of fouls in the league this season, accumulating 235.
The teams have a contentious history, as evidenced in an earlier encounter this season where Phoenix’s Mason Plumlee and Houston’s Steven Adams were also ejected after a skirmish.
Following Brooks’ ejection from Sunday’s game, Houston dominated the court, outscoring Phoenix 23-11 to conclude the half with a commanding 78-49 lead.
