In Barcelona on Sunday, Primoz Roglic delivered an impressive performance to outpace local competitor Juan Ayuso and secure the win at the Volta a Catalunya. The Slovenian cyclist, known for his four victories in the Spanish Vuelta, made a strategic final surge during the last 20 kilometers of the race.

The decisive seventh stage, spanning 88 kilometers through the streets of Barcelona, ended with Roglic crossing the finish line first, ensuring his triumph in the overall standings. Juan Ayuso had held the lead as they entered the concluding day, having taken advantage during the sixth stage, which had been curtailed due to hazardous windy conditions.

Roglic, riding for Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe, managed to outdistance the competition with a significant margin. His efforts placed him 28 seconds ahead of Ayuso, who races for UAE Team Emirates XRG. Enric Mas, another Spanish cyclist representing the Movistar Team, completed the podium, trailing Roglic by 53 seconds.
