ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — In a strategic move to secure talented players for the future, the Buffalo Bills have agreed to a four-year contract extension with cornerback Christian Benford, worth $76 million. While the team has not publicly announced the agreement, an inside source shared the details of the deal, marking another significant step in the Bills’ offseason plans.

Benford, who is 24, was originally drafted in the sixth round out of Villanova in 2022 and was approaching the final year of his rookie contract. His new extension ensures he remains with the Bills through the 2029 season. The young cornerback quickly rose to prominence, claiming a starting role in his second year after competing with 2022 first-round pick Kaiir Elam, who was recently traded to the Dallas Cowboys.

Throughout his time with the Bills, Benford has proven to be a valuable asset to the defense, recording five interceptions so far, with two registered in the last season alone. Moreover, he has been involved in 25 passes defended, further showcasing his defensive skills on the field.

Benford isn’t the only player that the Bills have looked to keep long-term. This offseason, the team has focused on ensuring that valuable players remain part of their core roster. The cornerback joins a lineup of recently extended players, including quarterback Josh Allen, receiver Khalil Shakir, linebacker Terell Bernard, and edge rusher Greg Rousseau, all crucial to the Bills’ ongoing aspirations in the AFC East.
