BRIDGETON, N.J. — A former custodian from New Jersey has been sentenced to an eight-year term in state prison for egregious actions involving contamination of food intended for children and staff with bodily fluids and cleaning products. In addition, he admitted to placing cooking utensils on his genitals. Giovanni Impellizzeri, aged 27 and a resident of Vineland, expressed remorse in court, acknowledging there was no justification for his appalling actions.

The troubling incidents occurred while Impellizzeri was employed as a custodian for the Upper Deerfield Township School District in 2023. Investigators, including officials from the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office, uncovered videos made by Impellizzeri himself, documenting the contaminations. Notably, he further disseminated these recordings online.

Upon learning of the allegations, county health officials stated in 2023 that the probability of health issues arising from the incidents was low. To date, there have been no reported illnesses connected to these actions.

Earlier this year, Impellizzeri entered a guilty plea to a charge of official misconduct. Furthermore, during the investigation into the contaminating videos, authorities discovered he also possessed child sexual abuse materials, leading to an additional charge.
