According to a statement from the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, the 27-year-old man was later booked into jail after an altercation with the babysitter resulted in the child being inadvertently knocked to the ground. This unsettling encounter took place late on Monday, prompting a call to authorities from the home, which lies in the town of Great Bend—home to about 15,000 residents in western Kansas. By the time deputies arrived, the intruder had already fled the scene.
The babysitter reported to deputies that while she was tending to the child, who expressed worry over a “monster,” she discovered the intruder.
