ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Anaheim Ducks celebrated a solid victory on Wednesday night, defeating the Boston Bruins 6-2 and stretching Boston’s winless streak to seven games. Leo Carlsson was instrumental, scoring two goals, while Jackson LaCombe contributed a goal and an assist in the win. Nikita Nesterenko, Cutter Gauthier, and Mason McTavish added to Anaheim’s commanding performance with a goal each, and Alex Killorn delivered a notable two assists. John Gibson had an impressive night in the net with 23 saves.
On the Bruins’ side, David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie managed to find the back of the net, with Joonas Korpisalo making 31 saves. Carlsson achieved one of the Ducks’ two short-handed goals this season late in the first period, pushing Anaheim to an early 1-0 lead, helped by Alex Killorn’s 300th NHL assist. The Ducks dominated the first period by outshooting the Bruins 15-5.
The win secured Anaheim’s sweep of the season series against Boston, following a previous 3-2 overtime victory on February 22.
Crucial moments of the match included Jackson LaCombe’s rapid response 1:37 after Pastrnak scored his 35th goal of the season, narrowing the Bruins’ deficit to 2-1. LaCombe shifted the momentum back to Anaheim by lifting the puck overhead and rebounding it into the net off Korpisalo, setting the score at 3-1. In a quick turn of events, Gauthier extended the lead to 4-1 within a minute.
The Bruins’ seven-game winless streak has been marked by an aggregate score of 36-13 against them (6-0-1). Pastrnak’s personal tally has reached four consecutive seasons with at least 35 goals. Meanwhile, Geekie, with a goal and an assist in this game, has achieved a career-high 41 points this season. Anaheim’s aggressive offensive play was evident as the team registered 37 shots on goal, marking their third game in a row with 35 or more shots.
Moving forward, the Bruins are set to face the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night, while the Ducks will host the New York Rangers on Friday night.
