LIVERPOOL, England — Everton Football Club is set to welcome international sports events to its brand-new stadium shortly after its inauguration.
The club announced that on November 1, the iconic sport of rugby league will grace the turf, as England takes on Australia at the newly built Everton Stadium.
This 53,000-seat marvel, located on the historic Bramley-Moore Dock waterfront, is poised to become Everton’s new fortress for soccer matches starting from the next season, succeeding the renowned Goodison Park.
Recent weeks have seen the new stadium host numerous test events, ensuring it meets the highest standards for sports and entertainment.
“Our stadium was designed not only as the home ground for Everton but also as a premier venue for top-tier sporting and entertainment occasions,” explained Colin Chong, Everton’s interim chief executive. “Securing such a significant international fixture highlights the stature of Everton Stadium as one of the U.K.’s premier venues.”
Adding to its credentials, Everton’s new stadium is also slated to be a venue for the men’s European Championship in 2028, further emphasizing its importance on the international sports stage.
