MIAMI SHORES, Fla. — Stephen Curry has rejoined the Golden State Warriors after sitting out the first game of their away series due to a pelvic contusion. There’s a possibility that he could be playing when the Warriors face off against the Miami Heat in a match that marks Jimmy Butler’s return on Tuesday night.
Curry’s participation is currently considered questionable, but optimism surrounds his recovery as he took part in activities following Monday’s practice. He plans to assess his condition on Tuesday morning and make a decision then.
Warriors’ head coach, Steve Kerr, observed Curry’s readiness, noting, “We didn’t scrimmage or anything but he was moving great. Surprise — he knocked down a lot of shots,” giving hope to fans eagerly anticipating Curry’s return.
The game promises to be emotionally charged, as it’s marked by the homecoming of Butler since his recent trade to Golden State. Conversely, Heat’s forward Andrew Wiggins, who was exchanged in the trade, will confront the Warriors for the first time. Such dynamics add another layer of excitement to the encounter.
This clash holds significance in the context of postseason aspirations. The Warriors are currently sixth in the Western Conference and keen to maintain or improve their standing to sidestep the play-in tournament.
“Steph feels an obligation always to be there for his teammates, regardless of the circumstances,” said Kerr, praising Curry’s commitment. “He’s an amazing teammate. He wants to get back as soon as possible mainly so we can win games and climb the ladder in the playoff race. No doubt he wants to be there for Jimmy, too. It’s one of the things I love about Steph — he’s always there for his guys.”
Curry sustained his injury during a match against Toronto last Thursday, which led to his absence in the Warriors’ defeat to Atlanta on Saturday. The 37-year-old is currently averaging 24.2 points and six assists per game this season while shooting 39.4% from beyond the arc.
