LAFC Beats Sporting KC with Goals from Martínez and Long

    KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Los Angeles FC claimed a decisive victory over Sporting Kansas City with a 2-0 scoreline on Saturday, showcasing strong performances from both offense and defense.

    David Martínez opened the scoring in the first half for LAFC with a precise left-footed strike. The goal came in the 18th minute, with Mark Delgado providing the assist that led to Martínez’s successful shot into the upper left-central area of the net.

    In the second half, Aaron Long further solidified LAFC’s lead with a skillful left-footed shot from the center of the box, finding the bottom left corner to make it 2-0. This goal added to LAFC’s dominating performance on the pitch.

    Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was instrumental in maintaining the clean sheet, contributing two crucial saves that kept Sporting Kansas City at bay. This win marked LAFC’s first road victory of the MLS season, with all three of their wins being shutouts.

    John Pulskamp, the goalkeeper for Sporting KC, also managed two saves, but it wasn’t enough to prevent their fourth loss of the season, putting them at a record of 0-4-1.

    Historically, LAFC has been strong against Sporting KC, leading the all-time regular-season series with a record of 8-4-2. They have remained unbeaten in their last eight MLS encounters with Sporting KC since 2021.
