LOS ANGELES — During a recent NHL matchup against the Los Angeles Kings, Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis sustained a head injury that forced him to leave the game. The incident occurred in the third period of the Hurricanes’ 7-2 defeat on Saturday.
The injury happened when Kings player Warren Foegele brought Jarvis down on a breakaway play, leading to Jarvis crashing into the end boards. He was assisted off the ice by a team trainer and taken back to the dressing room for further evaluation.
In a postgame press briefing, Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour shared a cautiously optimistic outlook regarding Jarvis’s condition. “I think he looks actually all right, but I don’t want to say that because you never know when they wake up the next day,” Brind’Amour stated. “But I think we avoided the worst and move on.”
Seth Jarvis has been an asset to the Carolina Hurricanes, currently leading the team with 27 goals this season and securing the second spot on the roster with 52 points.
The team was already facing setbacks with the absence of captain Jordan Staal due to a lower body injury and defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere, who was out because of illness. This challenging situation came at the start of a back-to-back schedule, with the next game set against the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. The Hurricanes’ loss to the Kings halted their impressive eight-game winning streak.
