NEWARK, N.J. — In an exciting hockey matchup, Tereza Vanišová led the Ottawa Charge to a notable 5-2 triumph over the New York Sirens by scoring three goals in just a 10-minute span during the second and third quarters.

Vanišová’s dynamic hat trick stole the spotlight, although New York’s Abby Roque accomplished a significant feat as well. Roque scored the first-ever “Michigan” goal in the history of the PWHL. Known as a high wraparound shot, Roque expertly maneuvered the puck from behind the net, sending it past Ottawa’s goalie Gwyneth Philips and bringing the score momentarily closer. The Michigan native executed this impressive move only two minutes into the third period, helping her team narrow the gap to 3-2.

However, Vanišová quickly extended Ottawa’s lead back to a margin of 4-2 by completing her hat trick shortly thereafter. Ottawa’s dominance continued into the final period as Emily Clark further secured their victory with another goal.

Gwyneth Philips was notable in goal, amassing 34 saves for Ottawa, which is currently in fifth place with a record of 9-1-4-10. Corinne Schroeder, on the other hand, had 26 saves for the sixth-placed New York team, which holds a 5-4-4-12 record.

This victory provided Ottawa with a glimmer of hope for their playoff ambitions, leaving them just two points behind Minnesota for a potential fourth-place finish.
