Chattanooga tops Dayton 87-72, Huff scores 26 in NIT

    CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Honor Huff shined with a remarkable 26-point performance, leading Chattanooga to an 87-72 victory over Dayton in the second round of the NIT on Saturday. This win propels Chattanooga into the quarterfinals, where they will face off against Bradley.

    Huff was a sharp shooter for the Mocs, going 7 for 12 from the field, including an impressive 5 for 10 from beyond the arc, and converting 7 of 9 free throws. Trey Bonham also delivered a stellar performance, contributing 25 points on 8 for 13 shooting, including 3 for 5 from three-point land, and making all six of his free-throw attempts. Bonham showcased his all-around skills by grabbing eight rebounds as well. Collin Mulholland added 11 points, shooting 4 for 5 from the floor. With this victory, the Mocs extended their winning streak to 11 games.

    On the opposing side, Nate Santos was a standout for the Flyers, scoring 18 points and securing six rebounds. Enoch Cheeks contributed 15 points and two steals, while Javon Bennett also added 15 points for Dayton.

    Chattanooga established their dominance early, securing the lead just seconds into the game with 19:32 left in the first half, and never relinquished it. At the halftime break, Chattanooga was ahead 42-34, with Huff having already amassed 16 points. In a commanding second half, Bonham contributed 20 points, guiding Chattanooga to widen their lead and ultimately seal the victory, outscoring Dayton by seven points after the break.
