NEW YORK — The NBA announced penalties on Friday, issuing fines to Brooklyn Nets player Trendon Watford and Indiana Pacers forward Myles Turner, following a contentious confrontation during a recent game.
Watford and Turner have each been fined $35,000 as a result of their involvement in the skirmish. Additionally, Andrew Nembhard, a guard for the Pacers, received a $20,000 fine for instigating the conflict. The incident occurred during Indiana’s 105-99 overtime win against the Nets.
The situation unfolded with approximately five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Watford, following a made basket, approached Nembhard and delivered a forearm to his chest. This prompted a physical exchange that also involved Turner, whom Watford shoved after rushing towards the developing altercation.
The disturbance drew in players and personnel from both teams, though it was contained before escalating further. As a consequence of their actions, Watford received two technical fouls leading to his ejection. Turner and Nembhard were each given technical fouls as well.
