DALLAS — Detroit Pistons guard Tim Hardaway Jr. experienced an unfortunate setback during Friday night’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks when he sprained his right ankle. The incident occurred midway through the second quarter when Hardaway inadvertently stepped on Dallas’ P.J. Washington Jr.’s foot, prompting him to fall to the floor. With 6:02 remaining in the half, the injury forced Hardaway to exit the game, and it was anticipated that he would not return for the remainder of the contest.

This marked Hardaway’s first game back in Dallas after being traded to the Pistons last summer, ending his five-and-a-half-season tenure with the Mavericks. As a nod to his contributions, the Mavericks honored him with a special video tribute during the first timeout of the game. Hardaway took a moment to acknowledge and thank the enthusiastic crowd for their support.

Despite the sincerity of the moment, the game continued without one of its notable participants. Hardaway, currently 33 years old, hopes to recover quickly and continue to make an impact with his new team. In the meantime, the Pistons will have to adjust their game plan in his absence as they navigate the rest of the season.
