Nestle USA has issued a recall for certain batches of Lean Cuisine and Stouffer’s frozen meals due to potential contamination with “wood-like material,” following reports that raised choking concerns.
The recall targets specific quantities of meals with best-before dates ranging from September 2025 to April 2026. Affected products include Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli, Lean Cuisine Spinach Artichoke Ravioli, Lean Cuisine Lemon Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry, and Stouffer’s Party Size Chicken Lasagna. These items were distributed to major retailers across the U.S. from September 2024 until now. No other products have been impacted by this recall.
Nestle representatives stated their cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Agriculture Department as they investigate the origin of the wood-like material. The decision to recall these products follows consumer reports of the issue, including at least one instance of potential choking.
Consumers are advised to review the batch codes and best-before dates listed on the company’s recall announcement to determine if their products are part of the recall. The 10-digit batch code can be found on the side of the product packaging.
Customers are instructed not to prepare or ingest the recalled items. Instead, they should be returned to the place of purchase for a refund or exchange. For further inquiries, consumers can contact Nestle USA at (800) 681-1676 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. EDT, Monday through Friday.
