LOS ANGELES — The acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter Sia has initiated divorce proceedings from her husband, Daniel Bernard, after a marriage that lasted two years.
Sia, whose full legal name is Sia Furler, officially filed the divorce papers on Wednesday at the Los Angeles Superior Court. The documents she submitted indicated that the couple separated the day before the filing. In alignment with many other divorces in California, she listed “irreconcilable differences” as the primary reason for the split.
In the divorce petition, Sia requested that the court not mandate any spousal support payments to Bernard. She is also pursuing legal and physical custody of their 11-month-old child, Somersault Wonder Bernard.
Details regarding the beginnings of Sia and Bernard’s relationship, including how and when they started dating, remain largely unknown. However, the couple entered into a legal marriage in December 2022 and celebrated with an intimate wedding ceremony in Portofino, Italy, in May of the following year.
Previously, Sia was married to filmmaker Erik Anders Lang, with their marriage spanning from 2014 to 2017. At 49, Sia has achieved significant recognition in the music industry, securing nine Grammy nominations throughout her career, including five for her notable 2014 hit “Chandelier.”
