NEW YORK — During the second half of Monday night’s basketball matchup between the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, actor and comedian Tracy Morgan became ill, causing an interruption in the game.

The game was temporarily paused with 6:09 remaining in the third quarter as event staff worked to clean the area around Morgan’s seat. The break in play extended for more than ten minutes as the situation was addressed.

A spokesperson for Madison Square Garden conveyed their hopes for Morgan’s speedy recovery and expressed anticipation for his return to his usual courtside position. Messages seeking remarks from Morgan’s representatives were made but had not been responded to at the time of writing.

Morgan, who is 56 years old, is well-known as a dedicated Knicks supporter. He gained attention recently through his involvement in the “Saturday Night Live” 50th anniversary festivities, participating both in “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert” and the live broadcast of “SNL50: The Anniversary Celebration.”

He is set to star in an upcoming, as-yet-untitled NBC comedy pilot. In this project, Morgan portrays a disgraced former football star attempting to rehabilitate his reputation, sharing the screen with actor Daniel Radcliffe.

The Knicks emerged victorious from the game with a score of 116-95.

After the team’s win, Knicks forward Josh Hart commented, “First and foremost, obviously we hope everything is good with Tracy Morgan. Avid, lifetime Knick fan so prayers go out to him and his health and safety.”
