SEATTLE — Dylan Samberg scored just 1:47 into the overtime period, lifting the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Sunday night after coming back from a two-goal deficit.
Cole Perfetti contributed a goal and an assist, with Kyle Connor also finding the back of the net for Winnipeg. Vladislav Namestnikov added two assists, and Eric Comrie secured 14 saves to clinch the win. Comrie briefly left the game after being hit early in the first period, during which Connor Hellebuyck stepped in to stop five of six shots over a span of 10:10 before Comrie’s return.
For the Kraken, Jani Nyman and Michael Eyssimont scored, while Joey Daccord recorded 23 saves. In the deciding overtime, Perfetti surged wide along the right, drove towards the net, and seamlessly passed to Samberg across the crease, who then beat Daccord on the blocker side.
Nyman’s power-play goal came shortly before the midway mark of the first period, and Eyssimont extended Seattle’s advantage to 2-0 with 4:37 left in the opening period. However, Perfetti answered with a goal for Winnipeg just 17 seconds before the period ended. Connor equalized the match at 2-2 with his 36th goal of the season, scored with 8:18 remaining in the second period.
Key highlights from the game include Winnipeg’s continued success, as this win marks their fifth victory in six games, putting them two points above Washington for the league’s most points. Seattle, on the other hand, fell to 4-5-1 over the last ten games, currently sitting ten points out of a wild card position in the Western Conference. A significant moment occurred when Ryker Evans’ shot was blocked by Winnipeg’s Morgan Barron, allowing the Jets’ Connor to score the tying goal after breaking away on Daccord.
The Jets also showcased a commanding physical presence with a 37-21 advantage in hits. Looking ahead, Winnipeg is set to visit Vancouver on Tuesday night, while Seattle prepares for a four-game road trip starting in Chicago.
