TBILISI, Georgia — Akaki Tabutsadze, a prominent winger for the Georgian national rugby team, has made history in the world of international rugby by becoming the seventh player to score 50 tries. Achieving this feat during the Rugby Europe Championship final, Tabutsadze’s remarkable performance saw him crossing the line three times.

This achievement makes him the first player in nearly 12 years to reach the 50-try milestone, following in the footsteps of South African legend Bryan Habana. Habana retired with an impressive 67 tries, narrowly missing the all-time record held by Japanese player Daisuke Ohata.

Tabutsadze, affectionately dubbed “The Bullet” for his speed and agility on the field, boasts an astonishing strike rate of 50 tries in just 51 tests. Remarkably, he has accomplished this at the young age of 27, highlighting his exceptional prowess in the game.

In a thrilling match, Georgia dominated Spain with a 46-28 victory in the final, securing their eighth consecutive Rugby Europe Championship title. This victory marks Georgia’s 14th championship win in the past 15 years, underscoring their dominance in the tournament.
