SANTA CLARA, Calif. โ€” Kyle Juszczyk, the versatile fullback for the San Francisco 49ers, has rejoined the team on a two-year contract valued at $8 million, just days following his release, as confirmed by a source close to the situation.

The 49ers had released Juszczyk earlier in the week, choosing not to fulfill his $4.1 million salary along with potential bonuses for offseason participation and game appearances totaling an additional $500,000. This decision resulted in a $3.6 million dead cap charge for the team, but they opted to renegotiate terms and sign him anew.

Juszczyk, 33, has been a significant asset to the team since joining in 2017 shortly after coach Kyle Shanahan and General Manager John Lynch began their leadership roles. He is recognized for his role and adaptability in the predominantly fullback-less modern NFL. Spending roughly half of the offensive snaps with the team, Juszczykโ€™s contributions have earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl every year of his tenure with the 49ers, and he has been selected nine times throughout his career. His performance earned him a first-team All-Pro honor in 2023, and he was a second-team selection in 2024 after the reintroduction of the fullback position for All-Pro considerations.

In the last season, Juszczyk caught 19 passes totaling 200 yards and scored two touchdowns, adding 26 rushing yards and another touchdown to his stats. Over his eight seasons with the 49ers, he has accumulated 184 receptions for 1,895 yards, 13 receiving touchdowns, along with 237 rushing yards and six additional touchdowns.
