SANTA CLARA, Calif. โ Fullback Kyle Juszczyk is set to rejoin the San Francisco 49ers on a two-year contract valued at $8 million, just days after being released by the team. An insider, choosing to remain anonymous because the official announcement has not been made, confirmed the details. The decision to part ways with Juszczyk earlier this week was financially motivated; the team had faced a choice between keeping him at a salary of $4.1 million, plus additional bonuses, or making the strategic financial decision to release him. This move resulted in a $3.6 million hit to their cap space.
Despite these financial maneuvers, San Francisco has shown renewed commitment by restructuring his contract and bringing Juszczyk back on a new deal. Last season, facing a possible cut, Juszczyk had chosen to take a pay reduction to remain with the team, underscoring his value to the organization.
Having joined the 49ers in 2017 under the leadership of coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch, Juszczyk has become an integral part of their offense, renowned for his ability to perform various roles on the field. While many teams in the league have moved away from utilizing fullbacks, Juszczyk remains a significant figure in San Franciscoโs offensive strategy, consistently participating in about half of the offensive plays each season.
His on-field performance has earned him a Pro Bowl nomination for every season with the 49ers, totaling nine times overall, along with a first-team All-Pro honor in 2023 and second-team accolades in 2024, as the position gained renewed recognition in recent All-Pro nominations. Over the past season, Juszczyk contributed with 19 receptions totaling 200 yards and two touchdowns and added 26 rushing yards with an additional rushing touchdown.
Throughout his tenure with the 49ers, Juszczyk has amassed 184 receptions for 1,895 yards and notched 13 touchdowns, complemented by 237 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns, reaffirming his standing as a player who offers both skill and versatility to the team.
