WARSAW, Poland — Poland’s Prime Minister has humorously extended an invitation to U.S. actor and director Jesse Eisenberg, offering him military training as a fun way to prepare for a “new James Bond role.” This comes after Eisenberg, who has Polish roots, was recently granted Polish citizenship by the country’s president.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk shared a video on a social media platform where he enjoyed a snippet of Eisenberg from an episode of NBC’s The Tonight Show. During that appearance, Eisenberg, to the audience’s amusement, joked about waking up the day after receiving his citizenship only to see headlines stating, “Poland now requires all males to participate in military training.”
In the video addressed to Eisenberg, Tusk playfully assured: “Dear Jesse, there’s really nothing to be afraid of!” He emphasized that the military training he mentioned is not mandatory but voluntary. Tusk then extended an enthusiastic invitation, saying, “So come over to Poland! And we’ll give you such a training that, the new James Bond role? It’s yours!”
Earlier in the month, Tusk revealed that his government is devising plans for extensive military training initiatives for all adult males in light of evolving security concerns in Europe. He stressed the necessity of having a significant military force, aiming for an army comprising 500,000 soldiers, much larger than the current size which includes reservists.
As stated on Tuesday, the government’s strategy involves initiating training for 100,000 volunteers annually by 2027 as a part of its plan to strengthen its reserve forces. Tusk expressed confidence in the initiative’s success, stating he firmly believed, “there will be no shortage of volunteers.”
