Cooper Kupp has reportedly secured a new three-year contract worth $45 million with the Seattle Seahawks. Although the deal has yet to be officially signed, an individual close to the negotiations has confirmed this arrangement under the condition of anonymity.

Just days after being released by the Los Angeles Rams, Kupp is set to bolster the Seahawks’ roster. His addition will help fill the void left by the departures of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Seattle’s off-season activity also saw them trade away Geno Smith, subsequently signing Sam Darnold in free agency.

Hailing from Yakima, Washington, and having played college football at Eastern Washington, Kupp rose to significant prominence when he earned the title of Super Bowl 56 MVP. In 2021, he claimed the prestigious AP Offensive Player of the Year Award while leading the league with 145 receptions for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns—a feat marking him as the receiving triple crown winner. His postseason performance was equally impressive, catching 33 passes for 478 yards and contributing six touchdowns, including the game-winning touchdown during the Super Bowl against Cincinnati.

Despite his past achievements, the last three seasons saw Kupp struggle with injuries, which affected his performance. During this period, he failed to reach the 900-yard receiving mark. Last season was particularly difficult, as an early ankle injury sidelined him for four games, limiting his output to only 12 receptions for 162 yards over the final five games of the regular season.

Kupp’s reduced role at the Rams coincided with the emergence of Puka Nacua as a formidable receiver in the NFL over the prior two seasons. Meanwhile, the Rams have reinforced their lineup by acquiring Davante Adams, a three-time All-Pro wide receiver, this offseason. Adams signed a potentially lucrative two-year contract, valued at up to $46 million.

Drafted in the third round by the Rams in 2017 during coach Sean McVay’s debut draft class, Kupp had been a cornerstone of the team’s offensive strategy. Throughout his tenure with the Rams, he made an indelible impact with 634 receptions for 7,776 yards and 57 touchdowns.
