DALLAS — Olivier-Maxence Prosper, a forward for the Dallas Mavericks, has undergone surgery that will keep him out for the rest of the season. This injury adds to the challenges faced by the Mavericks, who have been struggling with numerous injuries ever since Luka Doncic was traded.

The team made the announcement on Thursday night, following Prosper’s surgery, which took place the previous day. Unfortunately, this means that Prosper will not be able to play for the remainder of the season.

In his second season with Dallas, Prosper saw an increase in playing time due to the growing list of injuries the team has encountered. He made his second start of the season shortly after Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis.

However, Davis also suffered an injury to his groin during his first game with the Mavericks, creating a series of setbacks for the team. Recently, Prosper was one of eight players unable to participate in the Mavericks’ 126-116 loss against San Antonio.

Prosper was benched after playing for 25 minutes in a challenging 30-point defeat at Milwaukee on March 5. The first-round draft pick from 2023 averaged 3.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in an average of 11 minutes per game this season.

As for Davis, he has yet to return, leaving Dallas at the 10th spot in the Western Conference, which qualifies them for the play-in tournament. Last season, the Mavericks reached the NBA Finals but fell short against Boston.
