The Milwaukee Bucks emerged victorious against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, winning 126-106 and halting their three-game losing streak. Leading the charge was Giannis Antetokounmpo, who narrowly missed a triple-double with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. Despite the loss, Luka Doncic put on a remarkable display for the Lakers, recording a spectacular 45 points and 11 rebounds, with 29 of his points scored before halftime. This performance equaled his season’s best and was his highest since his arrival at the Lakers team.

Austin Reaves contributed significantly to the Lakers’ efforts with 28 points, but it wasn’t enough to prevent their third consecutive defeat. On the Bucks’ side, Brook Lopez added 23 points to the scoreboard, while both Damian Lillard and Kevin Porter Jr. chipped in with 22 points each. Lillard also showcased his versatility by securing 10 assists and six rebounds.

The Lakers were notably understrength, missing star player LeBron James for a second game due to a groin strain, alongside Jaxson Hayes and Rui Hachimura, who were absent because of injuries. Lakers coach JJ Redick mentioned that the injured players have returned to California and will not participate in Friday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets. Their status will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis upon their return to California, where they will begin a five-game home series starting Sunday against Phoenix.

The injury-hit Lakers faced challenges with size and had to rely on bigger players like Alex Len, Christian Koloko, and Markieff Morris more than usual. However, the trio combined for just eight points over 46 minutes of play. Meanwhile, the Bucks rebounded effectively from a tough loss to Indiana earlier in the week, using the momentum from Antetokounmpo’s gameplay to secure a decisive win.

The game took a significant turn during the third quarter when Antetokounmpo scored 10 points as part of a 24-7 run, extending the Bucks’ lead from a tight 76-70 to a comfortable 100-77. This stretch was crucial in distancing the Bucks from the visiting team. Furthermore, Kevin Porter Jr.’s efficient scoring, managing 22 points in just 17 minutes, gave Milwaukee a substantial 45-20 advantage in bench points.

Looking ahead, the Los Angeles Lakers are scheduled to visit the Denver Nuggets on Friday, while the Milwaukee Bucks prepare to host the Indiana Pacers on Saturday.
