Isaiah Swope delivered an impressive performance, scoring 26 points, to lead Saint Louis to an 83-75 victory against Davidson in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament on Thursday. Saint Louis, now holding a season record of 19-13, will advance to face the No. 4 seed Loyola Chicago in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Swope showed exceptional accuracy, making 9 of his 15 attempts from the field, including sinking 5 out of 9 shots from beyond the arc. He also added three free throws out of four attempts for the Billikens. Adding to the scoring, Gibson Jimerson contributed 25 points while securing six rebounds. Amari McCottry was perfect from the field, hitting all 5 of his shots, and tallied 15 points after going 5 of 9 from the free-throw line.
On the opposing side, Connor Kochera led Davidson with 18 points, as the team’s record shifted to 17-16. Zach Laput added another 16 points to the Wildcats’ effort, while Mike Loughnane chipped in with 14 points and two steals.
The game was tightly contested in the first half, with Saint Louis taking a narrow 36-31 lead into halftime. Jimerson was a key figure in the opening half, scoring 11 points. However, it was Swope’s outstanding 15-point performance in the second half that ensured the Billikens’ progression in the tournament.
