In Cairo, an extraordinary display of strength was witnessed as Egyptian wrestler Ashraf Mahrous, also known as Kabonga, showcased his unique ability to pull a train using just his teeth. This week, he achieved recognition from the Guinness World Records for three incredible feats, including the most considerable rail pull executed solely with dental power.
Aside from his astonishing achievement with the train, Mahrous earned certificates for pulling the heaviest locomotive and completing the fastest 100-meter vehicle pull. He impressively moved a two-ton locomotive in under 40 seconds, displaying his remarkable capabilities to a captivated audience.
Onlookers gathered on Thursday at Ramses train station in the heart of Cairo to witness this breathtaking performance, where Mahrous pulled a 279-ton train with a rope gripped tightly by his teeth over a span of nearly 10 meters, or 33 feet. The spectators’ cheers grew louder as he repeated the feat, this time maneuvering the massive vehicle with a strap secured around his shoulders.
In his 40s, Mahrous is not only renowned for his feats of strength but also serves as the president of the Egyptian Federation for Professional Wrestlers. In his record-setting endeavors, he previously gained admiration from Guinness World Records for cracking and consuming 11 raw eggs in 30 seconds, a feat he accomplished in February 2024. Furthermore, in June 2021, he pulled a 15,730-kilogram truck using only his teeth.
Dawlet Elnakeb, organizer of this sensational event in Egypt’s capital and head of a sports company, revealed that Mahrous prepared for around 20 days, albeit not consistently, before undertaking the remarkable task. Elnakeb described Mahrous’s power as “abnormal strength,” a testament to the wrestler’s unparalleled abilities.
