Noah Brown, a seasoned wide receiver renowned for his spectacular catch from rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels’ daring pass against the Chicago Bears, is once again joining the Washington Commanders. Brown has finalized a one-year contract that could be worth up to $4.5 million, according to insiders familiar with the deal. These details were shared on the condition of anonymity as the official announcement was pending.
Brown’s memorable catch was among his 35 receptions, accumulating 453 yards in just 11 games with the Commanders, following his release from Houston and subsequent signing before the start of the season. The 29-year-old player, unfortunately, had his season cut short due to a kidney injury sustained during the Dec. 1 game against Tennessee, sidelining him for the remainder of the season and the team’s progression to the NFC championship.
The return of Brown is part of a strategic move after General Manager Adam Peters successfully added wide receiver Deebo Samuel from San Francisco. The promising lineup at the wide receiver position now includes Terry McLaurin, Samuel, Brown, and Luke McCaffrey, complementing the newly re-signed tight ends, Zach Ertz and John Bates. “Last year was the most fun I’ve had playing football since I was probably in high school,” Bates commented earlier this week after securing a three-year deal. “It’s really cool to have Zach back and the whole gang back together.”
In addition to strengthening the receiving corps, Peters has been focused on enhancing the offensive line protecting Jayden Daniels. He secured left tackle Laremy Tunsil from Houston in a trade involving draft picks. Moreover, on Thursday, the Commanders re-signed Michael Dieter, a versatile interior lineman who adds depth and provides cover for starting right guard Sam Cosmi, as Cosmi recovers from knee surgery.
The defensive lineup also saw significant updates with the re-signing of six-time All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner. Additional agreements have been reached with safety Will Harris, cornerback Jonathan Jones, and defensive tackles Javon Kinlaw and Eddie Goldman.
