A U.S. District judge has mandated the Trump administration to rehire probationary employees who were dismissed during a series of large-scale terminations across several federal agencies.
Last Thursday, Judge William Alsup ruled that these dismissals did not comply with federal regulations, thus necessitating the immediate dispatch of reinstatement offers.
The ruling pertains to several significant government agencies, including the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Defense, Energy, the Interior, and the Treasury.
The judgment from the San Francisco-based court came in response to a lawsuit initiated by a coalition comprising labor unions and related organizations.
This legal action emerged as a counter to the Republican administration’s efforts to significantly reduce the size of the federal workforce.
