A federal judge in San Francisco has mandated the Trump administration to reintegrate probationary employees who were dismissed in widespread layoffs across various federal agencies.
U.S. District Judge William Alsup delivered this ruling on Thursday, stating that the dismissals did not comply with federal legislation, thus necessitating the immediate reissue of employment offers to those affected.
The directive affects several departments, including Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Defense, Energy, the Interior, and the Treasury.
This ruling emerges from a lawsuit initiated by a group of labor unions and organizations in response to the Republican administration’s efforts to significantly reduce the federal workforce.
