PITTSBURGH — Mason Rudolph is set to return to familiar territory.

The seasoned quarterback has finalized a two-year agreement to rejoin the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a source familiar with the arrangement. This information remains under wraps as the deal has yet to be publicly announced.

The signing ensures the Steelers have an experienced quarterback on their roster, following Pittsburgh’s decision not to re-sign Justin Fields, who opted for a two-year contract with the New York Jets. Meanwhile, Russell Wilson, who was instrumental in Pittsburgh’s last 12 games during the 2024 season, is currently exploring opportunities with other teams.

Recently, there have been reports about the Steelers showing interest in six-time MVP Aaron Rodgers, who became a free agent earlier this week.

Rudolph’s first professional chapter took place in Pittsburgh, with the Steelers drafting him in the third round back in 2019. His initial tenure saw him achieve an 8-4-1 record over 13 starts, concluding the 2023 season with a notable 3-0 streak that propelled Pittsburgh into the playoffs.

Though Pittsburgh opted not to renew his contract last year, Rudolph spent the 2024 season with the Tennessee Titans. During his tenure there, he threw for 1,530 yards, recording nine touchdowns and nine interceptions across eight games, including a 1-4 record as a starter.

In addition to Rudolph, the Steelers have secured the services of former Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell and former New York Jets cornerback Brandin Echols.
