Reports emerged this week from Japanese media about authorities detaining multiple men involved in allegations of sexually abusing their minor daughters and distributing the videos online.

Law enforcement officials have yet to verify these claims. According to Kyodo News, NHK television, and other media outlets, police in the Aichi prefecture, located in central Japan, apprehended several individuals aged 30 to 50. These men stand accused of the continuous sexual abuse of their daughters or stepdaughters, between the ages of 6 and 14. The assaults were reportedly filmed and the recordings disseminated on social media. Further allegations include charges of child prostitution and child pornography.

The reports suggest that these individuals communicated through a group chat where they exchanged messages and recordings of their abuses. The existence of the group chat came to light following the arrest of one man in November for alleged child rape. A subsequent investigation of data found on his mobile phone led to the identification and subsequent arrests of other suspects involved.
