CLEVELAND — In an exciting display of skill and determination, All-Star player Darius Garland led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a narrow victory over the Brooklyn Nets, scoring 18 of his impressive 30 points in the final quarter to secure a 109-104 win on Tuesday evening. This triumph extends Cleveland’s winning streak to 15 games, equaling the franchise’s historical best.

Contributions from other team members were also crucial to the Cavaliers’ success. Jarrett Allen was pivotal with 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Evan Mobley added 21 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. Notably, the Cavaliers have consistently demonstrated their strength throughout the season, initially kickstarting with a notable 15-game win streak. During Tuesday’s game, the Cavaliers showed resilience by overcoming an 18-point deficit in the third quarter.

The Cavaliers’ triumph was even more remarkable considering key players were absent. All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell sat out due to left groin soreness, De’Andre Hunter missed the game due to illness, and Ty Jerome was rested. Despite these absences, Cleveland’s overall season record stands at an impressive 55 wins and 10 losses, marking the fifth-best start in NBA history and solidifying their standing as the team with the best home record this season at 30-4.

From the Nets’ side, Cam Thomas led with 27 points, supported by Cameron Johnson’s 17 points and Ziaire Williams’ 14, though Williams was eventually fouled out. The Nets now find themselves five games behind Chicago, battling for a chance to secure a spot in the Eastern play-in tournament.

For the Nets, D’Angelo Russell was absent during the second half of their consecutive matchups, managing a right ankle injury, after contributing to a tight win over the Lakers earlier.

Cleveland hasn’t tasted defeat since they were overpowered by Boston on February 4, 112-105 at Rocket Arena. Apart from that, their only other home losses were inflicted by Atlanta, Houston, and Indiana.

The Cavaliers controlled critical moments, particularly when Brooklyn was trailing 101-99 with less than a minute to play. A missed 3-pointer by Johnson gave way to Garland capitalizing with a layup and subsequent free throws, effectively widening the gap and sealing their victory.

Earning yet another accolade, Cleveland secured the Central Division title for the eighth time in the franchise’s history, a testament to their formidable performance — six of these titles were achieved during LeBron James’ tenure with the team.

Looking ahead, the Brooklyn Nets will face off against Chicago on Thursday, while the Cleveland Cavaliers are set to visit Memphis on Friday.
