ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills have bolstered their offensive backfield by re-signing running back Ty Johnson and fullback Reggie Gilliam, the team confirmed on Tuesday.
Ty Johnson, now entering his fifth NFL season, is returning to the Bills for a third consecutive year. Last season, he made significant contributions, rushing 41 times for 213 yards and one touchdown, in addition to recording 18 receptions for 284 yards and achieving a career-high three touchdowns. He also celebrated his first playoff touchdown during the AFC wild-card round, catching a 24-yard pass in Buffalo’s 31-7 victory over Denver.
Johnson, 27, shared the backup running back duties with rookie Ray Davis, supporting starting running back James Cook. Before joining Buffalo, Johnson played for both the Detroit Lions and the New York Jets.
Reggie Gilliam, returning for his sixth season with the Bills, has been primarily utilized on special teams. The 27-year-old fullback has recorded two touchdown receptions during his tenure in Buffalo.
Additionally, running back Darrynton Evans will be back with the Bills after reaching an agreement on a contract. His agency, Priority Sports, made the announcement on social media platform X. Evans spent last offseason training with the Bills before an injury placed him on reserve status prior to the season’s commencement. He was then released in October.
The 26-year-old Evans finished the season with the Chicago Bears. Now in his fifth year, he has previously played for the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins.
