The Baltimore Ravens have reached an agreement to bring seasoned wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins on board with a one-year, $6 million contract. Though insiders shared this information, they requested anonymity as free agents are not permitted to officially sign until Wednesday.
Hopkins, at 32, is set to transition from one championship-challenging team in the AFC to another, following his tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs last season. Despite scoring a touchdown during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl defeat against Philadelphia, his overall performance in 2024 was less prolific, recording 56 receptions for 610 yards while playing for both Kansas City and Tennessee.
Throughout his 12-year career, largely spent with the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals, Hopkins has been a formidable force on the field with 984 catches accumulating 12,965 yards and 83 touchdowns. Not long ago, in 2023, he achieved over 1,000 receiving yards with the Titans before being dealt to the Chiefs the following year.
The addition of Hopkins boosts the Ravens’ offensive lineup, providing quarterback Lamar Jackson with another valuable receiver. He joins the ranks alongside Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely, potentially enhancing Baltimore’s passing game.
This offseason, the Ravens have also succeeded in re-signing key players. A crucial move included securing tackle Ronnie Stanley with a new contract before he entered free agency. Furthermore, the Ravens retained fullback Patrick Ricard as well.
