Steph Curry, the renowned NBA superstar, has been unveiled as a new investor in the up-and-coming Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 women’s basketball league, as of Monday. His participation amplifies the cadre of high-profile individuals backing the startup league.

The investment from Curry was part of Unrivaled’s oversubscribed Series A funding round in December. The league proudly announced it had amassed over $28 million from this round, in addition to the $7 million accumulated during their seed round in May 2024. Altogether, this has led to a robust $35 million total in funding.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Curry stated, “I am incredibly proud to be joining the Unrivaled family as the league continues to set a new standard for how women’s professional sports should operate. Unrivaled is not just innovating the way we play basketball, but also how we value and invest in the athletes who drive the game forward.”

Joining Curry in backing Unrivaled are fellow esteemed individuals including NBA legends Carmelo Anthony and Giannis Antetokounmpo, burgeoning tennis prodigy Coco Gauff—who has made courtside appearances at games during the league’s inaugural season—Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, and celebrities Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. Additionally, acclaimed women’s basketball coaches Dawn Staley and Geno Auriemma are supporters.

The Unrivaled league, established by celebrated WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, has just concluded its regular season and is gearing up for a two-day postseason event set for Sunday and Monday.

In the playoffs, Angel Reese’s Rose team, positioned as the second seed, will compete against Alyssa Thomas and her third-seed Laces team in one semifinal matchup. Meanwhile, Collier’s top-seeded Lunar Owls are set to challenge Dearica Hamby, Aliyah Boston, and the fourth-seed Vinyl team in the other semifinal. Victors from these matches will proceed to battle it out in Monday’s ultimate final.
