In North Charleston, South Carolina, a man has been involved in an unusual incident involving Tesla charging stations. He is reported to have set fire to three Teslas chargers in a parking lot, which are prominently located near an outlet mall. It seems the act was deliberate, but things took an unexpected turn when the arsonist inadvertently set his own clothes on fire in the process.
Details from the North Charleston Police indicate that the individual spray-painted slogans such as “long live the Ukraine” and left a coarse message about former President Donald Trump on the pavement adjacent to the chargers. Following this, he used an unidentified material, stuffed into beer bottles, which he lit and then hurled at the charging stations. Witnesses recounted that his clothing caught fire during his attempts, prompting him to make a hasty retreat from the location.
According to Harve Jacobs, a spokesperson for the North Charleston Police, there have been no arrests in connection to the incident so far. The investigation of the matter has been handed over to the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for further exploration.
At the scene, investigators were able to collect remnants of the beer bottles used in the attack while local firefighters worked to cut the electric power to the chargers and extinguish the flames. There is hope that evidence from the scene will help lead to identifying the suspect and understanding the motivation behind this bizarre act.
