NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — In an unusual incident at a parking lot in North Charleston, South Carolina, a man targeted three Tesla charging stations, setting them ablaze and inadvertently setting his own clothes on fire, according to police reports.

Authorities reported that the suspect spray-painted provocative messages, including “long live the Ukraine” and an offensive comment about former President Donald Trump, near the charging facilities located close to an outlet mall.

The man proceeded to ignite unidentified substances packed into beer bottles, which he then hurled at the Tesla chargers. During this reckless act, flames caught onto his clothing, forcing him to flee the scene, eyewitnesses recounted to law enforcement officials.

So far, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident. The investigation has been handed over to the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as confirmed by North Charleston Police spokesperson Harve Jacobs.

In response to the fire, first responders swiftly collected evidence from the scene, including the beer bottles used in the attack, while firefighters worked to cut power to the charging devices and extinguish the flames.
