In an exciting announcement from Manchester, Tyson Fury, former heavyweight boxing champion, and Wayne Rooney, renowned ex-Manchester United forward, are set to co-manage the England team in the Soccer Aid 2025 charity match. Held at the iconic Old Trafford, this event is scheduled to feature athletes and celebrities vying against a World XI team on June 15.

The charity match, organized with support from UNICEF, aims to gather funds to aid children globally. Over the years, Soccer Aid has gathered more than £106 million ($137 million) which has been pivotal in providing essential services such as food, healthcare, safe spaces, and crisis support for young individuals in need.

The diverse lineup for the England squad includes a mix of former sports talents and popular celebrities. Some confirmed names are former England Women stars Jill Scott and Steph Houghton, singer Louis Tomlinson from One Direction, vocalist Tom Grennan, and famed Olympian Mo Farah. Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart and legendary Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci are also set to make an appearance at this annual event, which was initiated by pop icon Robbie Williams back in 2006.

Additionally, Soccer Aid 2025 will see the return of former Manchester United players, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, alongside Wayne Rooney, who will participate as a player-manager, continuing his legacy in a dual role at the historic venue of Old Trafford.

Reflecting on the upcoming event, Tyson Fury expressed his enthusiasm, “The chance to lead my England team to win this June is as thrilling as any heavyweight bout I’ve had.” As a devoted Manchester United supporter, Fury added that managing alongside Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford adds a personal touch to his involvement, making it an unforgettable experience.
