In Montvale, New Jersey, a severe accident involving a school bus unfolded on the Garden State Parkway, as the vehicle, containing 31 individuals, toppled over. The incident resulted in more than a dozen of those aboard being transported to medical facilities for treatment.
A total of 15 people, which included the bus driver along with 14 young passengers, suffered injuries in the mishap. Visual coverage from the location depicted the school bus lying on its side, with the rear emergency exit propped open, while a significant contingent of emergency personnel was present.
New Jersey’s Governor, Phil Murphy, acknowledged the situation via a social media update, confirming he was informed about the unfortunate event involving a Lakewood-registered bus. According to the governor’s remarks, both the state police and the Department of Transportation were actively engaged in the on-site investigation.
The Mayor of Montvale, Mike Ghassali, shared via social media that, fortunately, no fatalities were reported. However, there was a notably grave injury; a 14-year-old boy had been trapped underneath the fallen vehicle, indicating the severity of the crash. Ghassali mentioned that the bus was en route to New York state, emphasizing Montvale’s geographical proximity to the state line with New York.
