MONTVALE, N.J. — A significant accident occurred on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey involving a school bus and leaving several individuals injured. The bus, which was transporting 31 passengers, flipped over. According to New Jersey State Police, the accident resulted in injuries to 15 people. This number includes the bus driver and 14 young adults who were aboard at the time of the crash. The incident, which took place on Monday night, was reported by WCBS-TV, showcasing the overturned yellow school bus lying on its side. A video from the scene depicted the bus with its rear emergency door open, surrounded by numerous emergency responders who swiftly arrived to address the situation.
Governor Phil Murphy provided an update through social media, stating he had been informed about the crash. The bus involved was linked to Lakewood. Both state police and the State Department of Transportation were actively engaged at the site, carrying out a thorough investigation to determine the cause and circumstances of the accident. However, he noted that one individual sustained serious injuries. Mayor Ghassali mentioned that the bus’s intended destination was in New York state.
