CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In a remarkable recognition of his talent, Duke’s standout freshman, Cooper Flagg, has been honored as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s player of the year as well as rookie of the year.

The announcement came on Monday, right before the commencement of the league tournament taking place in Charlotte. These prestigious honors were awarded following a vote conducted by the conference’s head coaches and media representatives.

In further acknowledgments, Louisville coach Pat Kelsey earned the title of coach of the year. Chucky Hepburn, a guard for the Louisville Cardinals, was acknowledged for his defensive prowess by being named the defensive player of the year. The accolades list also featured Donald Hand Jr. from Boston College as the most improved player in the league. Additionally, Jeremiah Wilkinson from California was honored as the sixth man of the year.

Flagg’s excellent performance saw him not only win individual accolades but also join teammates Kon Knueppel, who secured a spot on the second team, and Tyrese Proctor, who was included in the third team, on the all-ACC roster.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press is set to release its own all-ACC honors on Tuesday.
