The New York Giants have committed to keeping veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton on the team, agreeing to a new three-year contract valued at $36 million. In addition to securing Slayton, the Giants have made moves to bolster their defense, reaching an agreement with cornerback Paulson Adebo on a three-year deal and signing defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris.
Slayton, now 28, has been a key presence in the Giants’ offensive lineup since being selected in the fifth round from Auburn in 2019. Over six seasons in the NFL with New York, Slayton has recorded 259 receptions, totaling 3,897 yards and achieving 21 touchdowns. Last season, he made 39 catches for 573 yards and scored twice, having previously matched his personal record with 50 receptions and set a career high with 770 yards in 2023. Besides his on-field contributions, Slayton is widely respected for his leadership qualities, earning the team’s nomination for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in the past season.
Paulson Adebo, who spent four years playing for the New Orleans Saints, was brought on board to address critical gaps in the Giants’ defense. Drafted out of Stanford in the third round of 2021, Adebo became a starter and racked up 10 interceptions in 52 games, including 51 starts. His stats also feature 43 passes defensed, along with two forced fumbles and recoveries. Although Adebo encountered a setback with a broken right leg against Denver last year, he is expected to form a strong duo with Deonte Banks in the Giants’ defensive backfield.
Meanwhile, defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris has joined the Giants following his release from Seattle. The terms of his two-year deal reportedly amount to $10 million, as mentioned by a source confidentially. Robertson-Harris, 31, adds experience to the Giants’ defensive line. Originally an undrafted free agent out of UTEP with Chicago, he spent five seasons with the Bears before joining Jacksonville as a free agent. During his professional journey, Robertson-Harris has accumulated 11 1/2 sacks and 67 quarterback hits.
